Focus 1 - Research.
When you play T1 with no base, you start with completely no
technology. Even if you start with advance base, you do start with
some basic defenses. So the main focus is to research extremely fast
to get the defends up as soon as possible.
It order to research fast, you need to
build as many research facility as you can. So, if you are playing T1,
the first building that you must have is research facility. After you
finished building your first research facility, then you proceed on
with your factories. Once you
have your first research facility up, carry out research on new
weapons, the key defense for T1 is lancer bunker. Basically you need
Mini Pod Rockets, Hardcrete wall and lancer turret first before you
can get lancer bunker. Refer to the tech tree for more details on
required researches.
Focus 2 - Building
Defenses.
Here are the
main defend structures that you build in T1 games:
Lancer Bunker
This
Defense is hardy due to its bunker's nature, and also make it cheap to
build. Mounted with a relatively long range light missile launcher,
allow it to defend against both long/short range enemy tanks. The big
disadvantage for this structure is its low Rate of Fire (ROF).
Tank Trap
This
tank trap act as a passive defense. Very effective in preventing rush.
It is cheap and easy to build but have low hit points. By delaying
enemy advance, bunkers behind the tank trap and take out some of the
enemy tanks.
To set up a basic defense right after you
finish your base buildings, you should start building bunkers near
your base. Don't worry, this bunkers are very hardy and can will stand
many attack weapons fire at T1.You can add rows of tank trap in front
of Lancer Bunkers to further delay enemy attack, this allow your
lancer bunkers to take out even more enemy tanks.
Build row(s) of lancer bunker at the perimeter of your base in the
enemy base direction.
The key is to build them near your base. Once you have a strong
defense line, continue to research more powerful weapons.
Focus 3 - Manufacturing
of Tanks.
In T1 battles, people normally do not rush
in early stage. Instead, they fortify their static defenses and focus
on researching the technology needed for building their tanks.
Whoever that finished researching and
building the Heavy Cannon Mantis However rules the game. Basically you
need Heavy Cannon, Hover propulsion and Mantis body. Refer to the tech
tree for more information on how to get each of the above technology.
Static defenses are important in T1 games
since they are required to stop your only threat, enemy tanks. This is
because VTOLs and long range artilleries are still not available.
Having a strong defense allow you to channel your focus to Research.
So, T1 is a game of research.
However, building of low technology units
may be required. You can build machinegun light tanks to temporary
guard your base and truck in case the enemy decides to rush. Don't
worry, you can always recycle your unwanted units at any one of your
factories.
